Whole-Home Repiping Services

4.9/5 Rating (46 Reviews)

End the cycle of endless leaks and plummeting water pressure. We replace failing galvanized, polybutylene, and corroded copper pipes with modern, reliable PEX-A or Type-L Copper systems.

A Permanent End to Plumbing Nightmares

Every plumbing system has a lifespan. If your home was built more than 30 years ago, there is a very high probability that the original pipes hidden behind your drywall and beneath your foundation are actively deteriorating. Patching one pinhole leak only to have another spring up two weeks later is a stressful, expensive, and ultimately losing battle.

At Escondido Plumbing Pro, we specialize in complete residential repiping. Rather than chasing leaks, we abandon the failing infrastructure entirely. We carefully install a brand-new, code-compliant network of premium Uponor PEX-A or heavy-duty Type-L Copper piping throughout your home. A whole-home repipe instantly restores powerful water pressure, eliminates rusty, bad-tasting water, and provides you with decades of leak-free peace of mind.

Warning Signs That It's Time to Repipe

Don't wait for a catastrophic pipe burst to take action. If you are experiencing two or more of these symptoms, your home’s plumbing system has reached the end of its useful life.

Frequent Pipe Leaks

If you have called a plumber more than twice in the last year to fix a pinhole leak or slab leak, the system is systemically failing.

Brown or Rusty Water

Water that runs brown when you first turn on the tap means the inside of your galvanized steel pipes is severely rusted and flaking off.

Severe Low Water Pressure

As steel pipes rust, the rust builds up internally, choking the pipe diameter until only a trickle of water makes it to your showerhead.

Extreme Temperature Swings

If someone flushes a toilet and the shower instantly turns scalding hot, the restricted pipes cannot handle dual water demands.

Polybutylene (PB) Piping

If you have gray plastic PB pipes (common in 1980s homes), repipe immediately. This material is notoriously defective and prone to sudden ruptures.

Lead Solder Concerns

Homes plumbed with copper before 1986 likely used lead-based solder on the joints, posing a long-term drinking water health risk.

Odd Tasting Water

A metallic or bitter taste to your tap water is a strong indicator of heavy metal corrosion leaching into your drinking supply.

Constant Slab Leaks

Multiple hot water slab leaks indicate the underground copper has been stripped bare by soil acidity and hard water.

Premium Piping Materials We Install

Uponor PEX-A (Cross-Linked Polyethylene)

PEX-A is the modern standard for residential repiping. It is a highly flexible, durable plastic tubing that can be snaked through walls with minimal drywall removal. PEX is completely immune to the mineral scale buildup and internal corrosion that destroys metal pipes. It is also highly resilient to freezing and water hammer. We use Uponor ProPEX expansion fittings, which actually grow stronger over time, unlike cheap crimp rings.

Type-L Copper Piping

For purists, commercial applications, or exposed exterior runs, we install premium, thick-walled Type-L copper. Copper boasts a proven 50+ year track record, is completely UV resistant, naturally inhibits bacterial growth inside the pipe, and will not burn or release toxic gases during a fire. We utilize modern, flame-free ProPress fittings to join copper securely without the fire risks associated with traditional soldering inside walls.

What Does a Repipe Include?

A proper repipe is a comprehensive upgrade of your home's water distribution network. Our standard repipe packages include:

  • All new hot and cold water supply lines
  • New 1/4-turn brass shut-off valves at every fixture
  • Stainless steel braided supply hoses for toilets/sinks
  • New main house shut-off valve and pressure regulator (PRV)
  • Professional drywall patching of all access holes
  • Complete removal and hauling of accessible old pipes

Our 6-Step Minimally Invasive Repipe Process

01

Property Protection

Before we begin, we lay down heavy canvas drop cloths, wrap furniture in plastic, and wear shoe covers. Dust control is our absolute priority.

02

Strategic Access Planning

We plan the new pipe routes through your attic and walls. We cut small, clean, precise squares in the drywall only where absolutely necessary to feed the new pipe.

03

Pipe Routing & Installation

We run the new PEX or Copper lines alongside the old ones. The old failing pipes are drained and abandoned in place inside the walls to avoid tearing out entire walls.

04

Fixture Connections

We install new brass shut-off valves and connect the new lines to your sinks, toilets, showers, and water heater.

05

Pressure Testing & City Inspection

We pressurize the entire new system and rigorously check every fitting. We then coordinate with the City of Escondido to inspect and approve the installation.

06

Drywall Restoration & Cleanup

Once the city signs off, our specialized drywall crew patches, tapes, and muds all the access holes, leaving the walls ready for your final coat of paint.

The Escondido Plumber Advantage: Abandoning Slab Leaks

The vast majority of repipes we perform in Escondido are driven by failing copper pipes buried beneath concrete slab foundations. The extreme hardness of the local water strips the copper from the inside, while the acidic soil attacks it from the outside, resulting in devastating "slab leaks."

We never recommend jacking up your entire living room floor to replace these underground lines. Instead, our repipe strategy involves an "overhead reroute." We permanently cap off the leaking pipes underground, abandoning them forever. We then run the brand-new PEX lines up through the walls and across your attic space, dropping them down directly to the fixtures. This method is faster, cheaper, and keeps your beautiful floors completely intact.

Cost Guide: Whole-Home Repiping

A whole-home repipe is a significant capital improvement to your property. Here are the typical investment ranges for homes in the Escondido area:

  • Partial Repipe (Targeted section or hot-side only)$2,000 - $5,000
  • Full PEX Repipe (Standard 2-3 bed, 2 bath home)$4,000 - $8,000
  • Full Copper Repipe (Standard 2-3 bed, 2 bath home)$8,000 - $15,000
  • Property Value Increase+$15,000 to +$25,000

Pricing Factors: The total cost is dictated by the number of plumbing fixtures (bathrooms/sinks), the total square footage of the home, the number of stories, and the accessibility of the attic or crawlspace. Vaulted ceilings without attic access require more drywall removal, increasing costs.

Questions

Repiping FAQs

Type-L Copper is the traditional gold standard, offering a 50+ year lifespan and natural antimicrobial properties, but it is rigid, expensive, and susceptible to hard water corrosion. PEX-A (flexible cross-linked polyethylene) is highly affordable, immune to internal scaling and pinhole leaks, expands to resist freezing, and can be snaked through walls like electrical wire, requiring far less drywall demolition.
